Saturday July 3rd was a great day for Children of Lima! Kenyi and Liz were invited to join the TEDxYouth Peru event. They both live in the Valle Ecologico community, high up in the hills around Lima. They have been off school for more than a year now, completely cut from the world. Together with Bruno and Vladimir, two of our great volunteers and friends, we installed solar panels and wifi to bring electricity and connectivity and brought a few laptops to give them a window to the world!
Last weekend, they connected with nearly 500 children from all over Peru, all brilliant young people, future leaders of Peru. Making friends and learning from each other. This may seem obvious and normal to many of us, but it is a major milestone in their lives – they EXIST!
Thank you so much to Bruno and Minna for coordinating this, to Pia from TEDxYouth for inviting us and to all our supporters for helping us to make these wonderful things happen!
